Stiff Neck Farm History
William True Getchell, founder of Stiff Neck Farm.

STIFFNECK FARM is a small family farm located in central Maine. We use organic growing practices, using no pesticides or chemical fertilizers. We are a 4th generation homestead farm originally built in 1888 by William True Getchell. He was a civil war veteran who came to Maine with war stories of Antietam and a passion for raising sheep. Like many farms in the area, the passing of the woolen mills in New England forced farms to turn to cows and dairy as a means for living. That too eventually played out, but being a stubborn lot we still grow our vegetables. There is something fundamentally fitting in the growing of EXTRA HARDY GARLIC in this ground. We hope you enjoy it !
